Title: Small Business Finance Specialist & Staff Writer (REMOTE)

  • Location: Remote

The Small Business Finance Specialist & Staff Writer role creates high-quality, authoritative content for small businesses with a focus on the various forms of funding available to small business owners. The Small Business Finance Specialist & Staff Writer has 2+ years of experience in finance and lending, knows the subject inside and out, and is able to provide our audience with the best answers to their questions about the different financing options available to small business owners. Previous writing experience is a must. This role reports to our Director of Content.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Writes publishable first drafts of 3-4 articles each week
  • Consistently meets deadlines with articles of the highest quality
  • Demonstrates expertise in the field of finance/lending
  • Learns how to ideate future articles in the field of expertise, working with the Director of Content on a content calendar
  • Learns how to do keyword research
  • Works with SEO/marketing and business development teams to connect the work of those teams with your content
  • Begins working on bigger content projects, offering expertise
  • Collaborates with our PR team to increase visibility on your topic(s)
  • Attends conferences, panels as an expert in Small Business Finance and ambassador of FSB

Qualifications:

  • You have 2 years minimum experience working in finance/lending (various capacities of work in that area of expertise are fine)
  • You have subject matter expertise in finance
  • You have experience writing online articles
  • You are collaborative and enjoy working with multiple team members
  • You have a basic understanding of SEO
  • You are self-motivated and able to manage your time to meet deadlines
  • You are open to feedback, and strive to learn something new every day
  • You are passionate about delivering the best answers to people’s questions
  • You are comfortable working in a startup environment where things change quickly

Tools We Use: G Suite, Slack, Trello, WordPress, Guru, Zoom *It’s fine if you have not used these tools before; just be enthusiastic to learn them quickly.
