The Support Technologies Platforms team is seeking an experienced and creative Software Development Manager to design and deliver world class applications for AppleCare. The ideal candidate will combine exceptional managerial expertise with solid hands on technical capabilities. You will not only lead but also work side by side with technical teams to identify and deliver solutions. This role can be onsite in Austin, or remote.

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability directly leading software developers with substantial experience with addressing interpersonal conflicts/escalations, prioritizing resources to meet strategic goals, mentoring/coaching employees, conducting employee performance evaluations, and recruiting/retaining talent
  • Consistent record of establishing teams and leading them to successful product delivery
  • A technical leader with strong expertise in:
  • Native app development using Swift, Objective-C, or C/C++
  • Web application development using languages such as Ruby, Python, PHP, and JavaScript and frameworks such as Rails, Django, Laravel, and Express
  • Data storage technologies such as Cassandra, Postgres, MySQL, Redis, Memcached, Kafka, S3, and Solr
  • Web analytics, software monitoring, and error tracking software
  • Expertise supporting a variety of SDLCs.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to build deep customer relationships
  • Results-oriented, detail-oriented, and well organized
  • Excellent leadership, communication, prioritization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Description

Lead hard-working teams responsible for software development, delivery, and support Supervise and mentor software developers; responsible for their management, evaluation, and career development Work with the team to establish process and ensure all security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy protocols are followed Strong technical expertise allowing you to work at the micro or macro level Work with customers to define project requirements, deliverables, acceptance criteria, and desired end result Review and prioritize work to align with corporate and leadership priorities Develop product roadmaps and communicate strategy to leadership Establish process to evaluate and set feature scope Define product lifecycle methodology with strategies for measurement Obsess with continual improvement Be curious and excited to learn new technologies and solutions

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent related work experience
